I’ve never been one to set a “word of the year.” I didn’t think it was necessary to jump on this trend and commit myself to sticking to one overall theme or word for an entire year.
But because of the big, scary goals I’ve set for myself and my business in 2018, a natural theme has risen to my mind many times over the past few weeks.
That theme is leveling up.
In order to achieve my goals for 2018, I know I’ve got to step up my game for my life and my business.
I love following behind the scenes of other successful businesses so in this post, I’m going to lay out my personal and business goals that will help me level up this year.
My Habit Goals
To prepare for the new year, I participated in Michael Hyatt’s 5 Days to Your Best Year Ever goal-setting course. In this program, he suggests setting habit goals to accomplish each day.
After completing his program, I set six habit goals for myself this year:
- Close rings on Apple Watch each day (except when traveling) starting January 1, 2018. (If you’re not familiar, the Apple Watch has three rings to close each day related to activity and movement.)
- Drink 80-100 ounces of water every day (except when traveling) starting January 1, 2018.
- Follow healthy eating plan each day (except when traveling) starting January 1, 2018.
- Journal for at least five minutes every day (except when traveling) starting January 1, 2018.
- Read for at least 10 minutes every day (except when traveling) starting February 1, 2018.
- Meditate for at least 20 minutes every day (except when traveling) starting February 1, 2018.
So far, I’ve been able to accomplish each of these goals everyday!
My Business Goals
Along with those habit goals, I set some big goals for my business this year too.
There are three branches of my business: one-on-one coaching, my Flourish with Facebook Ads course, and Facebook ads management.
One-on-one coaching is how I started my business and I love it, but my time is limited. I can only work so many hours and help a small number of people with this business model, which is why I created my course.
I launched my course, Flourish with Facebook Ads in September 2017, and since then, more than 90 online entrepreneurs have purchased it. I have more planned for it this year, but there are a few other things I want to do, too.
The third branch of my business is my Facebook ad management packages. This was the smallest portion of my business in 2017, but I’ll be able to offer more of this in 2018, as my team is growing and this is one of my main focuses of growth this year.
As I shared a couple of weeks ago, my main revenue goal is to earn $1 million in 2018. Broken down by quarter, my revenue goals are:
Q1 – $100,000 = an average of $33,333.33 per month
Q2 – $200,000 = an average of $66,666.66 per month
Q3 – $300,000 = an average of $100,000 per month
Q4 – $400,000 = an average of $133,333.33 per month
At this point, it’s a big unknown for if I can really make it happen. Last year, I set a big goal for my business, and I felt this same level of uncertainty about it too. But as the year came to a close, I was happy to realize that I had come within 10% of meeting my goal last year!
My revenue goal for 2018 sounds crazy, but after working with so many successful people in the online business space, I know it can be done.
I’m already confident in my ability to help people with my business and skills. I just have to find the right pieces of the puzzle to fit together to achieve my revenue goal.
And if I don’t hit it this year, I know that by pushing myself to achieve such a big, scary goal this year, I’ll get far closer than if I had set a smaller, safer goal. Plus, I’ll set myself up to hit it next year for sure!
In order to get there, I have a few projects up my sleeve.
- Create and test high-converting sales funnel for Flourish by 4/1/2018.
- Upgrade content and add video modules to Flourish by 4/1/2018.
- Upgrade my brand, including my website and photos, by 8/1/2018.
- Speak at #FinCon18 in 9/2018!
- Plan and launch a podcast by 10/1/2018.
- Participate in a high-end mentorship/mastermind program.
As you can see, these are going to push me outside my comfort zone throughout the year — to make sure I keep growing.
Leveling up means that I want to take on bigger projects, bigger clients, and participate in more interviews and networking opportunities. I plan to grow my team as well as the three branches of my business.
Leveling Up this Year
It may not seem like it at first, but so many of my personal and business goals spill into one another. As I improve my physical health, it will also increase my business productivity.
I hope that by putting my goals out there, you’ll be inspired to take on some big goals of your own and plan how you can achieve them. If you have a big, scary revenue goal you want to hit this year, it may feel out of reach when you look at the big picture.
However, when you break it down quarter by quarter and make a plan of action to get there, it seems a lot more doable!
